Two beaches, one booking – say which

Cala Tarida and Cala Comte are two separate beaches on the west coast, close enough to be planned together and far enough apart that a driver sent to the wrong one is a real wait. Groups often write one name and mean the other, or mean a villa that sits between the two. So the booking is made against the exact drop-off point rather than the general area.

Send the location pin from the rental confirmation, or name the beach and the access road you want. This service is designed for pre-booked private group transfers, not individual taxi rides.

Sunset is the busiest hour of the day here

The west coast is where the island goes to watch the sun go down, and the roads to these beaches carry that traffic in one direction in the late afternoon and in the other an hour later. A group that has agreed a pickup time and a named meeting point is not part of that problem; a group of eight looking for transport at the top of a beach car park after sunset usually is.

• Agree the pickup point when you are dropped off, while everyone is still together.
• Give a time, and send one message if it moves. The vehicle waits at the agreed spot rather than circling.
• Say if the group is going on somewhere else rather than back to the accommodation.

Seats, bags and beach equipment

The vehicle is a Mercedes V-Class or equivalent with seven or eight passenger seats. For a beach day the boot matters as much as the seats: eight people with parasols, cool boxes and towels fill a van faster than eight people with hand luggage. Tell us what is coming with you when you book and the right vehicle is assigned before it leaves. On arrival day the same applies to suitcases – we ask for the number of large cases, not only the number of passengers.
